Title: Ayet al-Kursi Year: 2017

Medium: Ink, gouache, gold, dyed ahar paper

Script: Besmele in oval, Sulus; text, Nesih

Image Size: 9 7/16” x 13”

Interpretation: God, there is no divinity except Him, the living, the self-existing singularity. Slumber never overtakes Him, nor sleep. He is the possessor of all that exists. Who is he that imagines he can intercede with Him without His permission, He that knows all that is in front of them and all that is behind them. They cannot comprehend even a bit of His knowledge except that which He wills. His throne extends over the heavens and the earth; the preservation of them does not tax Him at all. He is the elevated, the all-mighty. (Quran 2:255, from Surat al-Baqara, the Throne Verse)
